Google Appearance
We have (via the Neal Stephenson Community’s LiveJournal Site) an unsubstantiated claim that Neal is speaking at Google (roughly one year to the day +1 of his last visit to Kirkland). We’ll update you if we find out anymore about this.
Update: It seems that we have confirmation that Neal is indeed going to speak at Google Headquarters in Mountain View on Friday. Hopefully more to come…

He just finished speaking here, it was very interesting! He has a soft-spoken, stale presentation style (with his dry wit), but entertaining none the less.
He gave a quick overview of Anathem and then went into a Q&A session for about 50 minutes before signing books (although the books that were supposed to be shipped for free handouts had not arrived yet, people who brought their own books were lucky to get autographs).

See isn’t that a good video. And I have to admit the best was last “What kind of pen do you prefer?” excellent. Jorg Hysek is pretty bad ass, and a Rotring always a solid device…and this is evidence that I has a horrible writing instrument problem huh? But I do like the digression in the opening about not reading a passage from the book as well. Good Stuff.
