Sci-Fi wire interview
The Sci-fi Wire has an interview with Neal on Anathem.
No commentsAnathem giveway
Well probably blowing my chances of winning but over here, is a link to Fantasy Book Critic and the giveaway of 8 copies of Anathem. But you probably don’t want a free copy anyway so just ignore this and go back to work…
No commentsPhilosophy behind Anathem
io9, has a video of Neal discussing some of the philosophy that he used as a background for his new novel. The exclusive video looks to be from the same vintage as the Amazon videos, but is not listed there (or maybe Neal doesn’t have that many ties and likes that background enough that it travels with him…just a thought). But is pretty cool to watch none the less.
No commentsAnathem events
Here is the 1st of (what I hope!) are many appearances that Neal Stephenson will be making with the release of Anathem.
Third Place Books Sunday September 14th at 5:30pm Neal will be there. Not a lot of details here to work with.
University of Washington Bookstore, on September 9th, tickets $5 or free ticket with purchase of a book!
Oh and here is the list from Harper Collins
that’s it for now…
No commentsKevin Kelly on the 10,000 year Clock and Neal
KK.org, has an interesting article about the 10,000 year Clock and how it relates to Anathem. Plus there are some details on tickets to the Long Now’s event and book signing $45 seems like a bargin, but I am a bit outside of the average commute (approx. 1800 miles give or take) not that I am totally counting out!
No commentsAnd here is a passage from Anathem
Amazon has posted a teaser pdf of the chapter entitled Part 1 Provener.
So wanna sneak peek at the Anathem Glossary?
The always awesome BoingBoing has a link to a magical pdf. Three pretty neat pages, not the whole thing but still cool! How long until the 9th again?
No commentsGoogle’s Annual Meeting of Really Really Smart People
Here is a SciFoo entry on the Google Open Source Blog. And the title SciFoo: 200 of the Worlds Top Scientists Meet at Google’s Annual Meeting of Really Really Smart People, so incase there was any doubt Neal Stephenson is Really Really Smart, Google says. Not that I needed Google to tell me that.
No commentsWired article on Neal
Steven Levy has an article on Neal and the new book. Go read it here, good article.
No commentsOne More Anathem Review
Torque Control has a review up, it gives a good impression of how the read was without giving too much away. Tick,Tick, Tick you can almost hear Sept 9th coming closer and closer.
